Cozumel Mayan Ruins and Beach: San Gervasio entry fee included

The Cozumel Mayan ruins San Gervasio are located in the middle of the jungle, in the northern part of the island. Although approximately 34 different Mayan structures have been found on Cozumel, the largest is in San Gervasio. It was a ceremonial site, dedicated to Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of fertility. Cozumel used to be a pilgrimage place for Mayan women seeking fertility. Some constructions of San Gervasio in Cozumel date back as far as 200 AD, however, the main parts were built between 1200 – 1400 AD. The Cozumel Mayan ruins are small compared to the massive archeological sites in the Riviera Maya. They are still well worth a visit if you don't have the time or desire to make the trip over to Playa del Carmen on the ferry. Let our certified tour guides take you back in time to the ancient Mayan people of Cozumel.

Cozumel Mayan Ruins and Beach: East side of Cozumel and Beach Break

After leaving the archeological site San Gervasio, the Cozumel Island Tour Mayan Ruins and Beach takes you along the **undeveloped beaches of Cozumel's East Coast. We have about 12 miles of undisturbed ocean views and stop for photos. The Cozumel east side is so different from the west coast and local people as well as tourists enjoy the freedom of wild beaches and the fresh breeze. You will love the change of white sand beaches, rock formations, caves and little beach bars. Tell your private guide if you like to stop for some pictures.

Enjoy one of the most breathtaking places on Cozumel’s east side for a beach break. You will have a Mexican snack in the beach restaurant (drinks excluded). Walk along the sandy beaches and explore the rock formations in between.

Cozumel Mayan Ruins and Beach: Tequila Tour and Tasting

The Tequila Tour shows the process of the Mexican national drink which is made from Blue Agave. Your guide will explain Mexican Tequila traditions and you can try several Margaritas and Tequila. This is a fantastic end of your private Cozumel Island Tour Mayan Ruins and Beach. If you would like to skip the Tequila Tour and do something else instead, your guide will be glad to recommend you additional stops.

Reviews

Interesting introduction into the Mayan world by Tina S.

Birgit, you have showed us the world of the Maya in a very understandable and interesting way. Very well structured and well prepared, you used your materials and pictures to answer all questions. That made us want to know more and we will certainly come back and visit more Mayan ruins. Thank you for a very interesting day.

Highly recommended by Marcus V.

The private tour fully met our expectations. We came to Cozumel with the cruise ship for one day. While fellow travelers from our ship had 40 participants in their group, we enjoyed a highly interesting excursion with 10 people. Also the beach was chosen according to our wishes and was not full.

Nice day on Cozumel by Miriam B.

I've always been curious about the Maya and Aztecs. Birgit was able to clearly distinguish these two Mexican cultures and explained the difference. Her tour went far beyond the tours that can be booked on the cruise ships and she has taken us to the more remote structures of the Mayan ruins of San Gervasio. Also the other stops on Cozumel were very nice, we would like to thank Leon Tours Cozumel for this nice trip.
