The best beaches for surfing on Cozumel are located on the east side. Because of the wind and current conditions on Cozumel there are almost always waves. The beaches in the east are undeveloped and natural. However, you need a rental car or a scooter to get there. Otherwise, your surf school also offers transportation.

The best spots for Cozumel surfing

Punta Morena: Depending on weather and wind, you will find beginners or advanced waves here. With favorable conditions, you will surely meet some locals while surfing on Cozumel. On this beach is also the best Cozumel surfing school: Machito Surf Lessons. Machito has a surfboard and boogie board rental and teaches beginners and advanced Cozumel surfing lessons. At the same time, he is one of the best surfers on the island.

Punta Chiqueros: Advanced waves. On days with the famous north wind all the locals from Cozumel surf here. This spot is not suitable for beginners because the ground is rocky and the water is shallow.

Chen Rio: Depending on conditions beginner to advanced waves. Please note, especially south of Chen Rio, the sometimes very strong current.

Playa Bonita: The best beginner waves of Cozumel. Often we choose this beach for our beginners lessons. Also, the waves are perfect for practicing here.
