Private Excursion Chichen Itza

UNESCO heritage combined with a visit to a cenote and the colonial city of Valladolid

Our private Chichen Itza tour takes you to the impressive Mayan temples of Chichen Itza. The pyramid of Kukulkan, an important Mayan deity, is one of the most famous monuments in Mexico. It is one of the New 7 wonders of the world and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. In addition to the majestic Kukulkan pyramid, there are other well-preserved complexes, such as the largest ancient ball court in Central America. The nearby sacred cenote is easily accessible and explains the water supply of the great Mayan city. After this long visit of Chichen Itza, you will enjoy a swim in a refreshing cenote. Here we can have some lunch before we continue our trip to the colonial city of Valladolid.

Private excursion to Chichen Itza: Chichen Itza- Swim in a Cenote – Colonial city Valladolid

Experience Chichen Itza before the big busses arrive. We recommend starting our private excursions to Chichen Itza very early, so you can enjoy the archaeological site without the crowds. Also at this time in the morning the temperature is still convenient for a visit of the Mayan ruins. To arrive Chichen tza from Playa del Carmen, it takes about 2,5 hours. Once there, we take you on a journey to the ancient Maya. You will learn about the architecture of the temples, the knowledge and religion of the Maya, their social structures and astronomy.

Our next stop is a cenote close to the colonial city Valladolid. Crystal-clear water in a huge cave invites you for a swim. The water is refreshing and we can explore the fantastic limestone formations. After a long stay in the water, we have a typical Mexican lunch included (drinks are extra). From there we head to the colonial city Valladolid and visit the city center and the local market.

During our private Chichen Itza excursions, we are completely flexible and can arrange the day as our guests wish. We are happy to provide suggestions for an unforgettable day and adapt our Chichen Itza excursions to the personal wishes of our guests.

Chichen Itza excursion by Mila S.

We booked the private excursion to Chichen Itza with Leon Tours, as we like to be alone. Everything was perfectly organized and the excursion was great !!! For lunch, we stopped in a cenote that was not crowded at all, the big travel buses drove to another cenote. All in all, we felt super cared for and would book the trip again at any time.
