Private excursion Coba and Punta Laguna

This excursion takes us to the archaeological site Coba and to the surrounding lagoon. Coba itself is one of the most important Mayan classical centers on the Yucatan Peninsula and was well networked with other Mayan sites. This is also shown by the impressive network of Mayan streets (Zak Beh), the longest is approximately 100 kilometers / 90 miles long. From the top of the great pyramid Nohoch Mul you can experience a fantastic panoramic view over the jungle and the lagoons.

After an extensive tour of the archaeological site, we visit the Punta Laguna Nature Reserve. There we try to find monkeys, kayak in the lagoon, witness the ceremony of a Mayan tribe and go swimming in an underground cenote.

Description

  • Private excursions to Coba - Punta Laguna nature reserve *

Experience the archaeological site Coba, embedded in an incredible nature of lagoons, cenotes and jungle. Once we have picked you up from the meeting point or your hotel, we go straight to Coba. It takes about 1.5 hours from Playa del Carmen. Once in Coba, we take a bicycle rischka and discover the individual, well-preserved structures. They are spread in the jungle, that is why we need the rhishka. We learn about the history of these impressive ruins, once one of the most important cities on the Yucatan Peninsula. Coba had a distinctive trade network, well-developed streets (Zac Be in the Maya language means white street) still testify to the once glorious times.

The Punta Laguna Nature Reserve is home to the elements of nature that are so typical of this region. We will search for monkeys that still live here. Before we are allowed to enter the jungle, we are purified by a Mayan leader in a small ceremony, i.e. cleaned with incense. The lagoon is very calm and we take kayaks to go to the other side. We will have a typical local lunch, before we take a refreshing dip in an underground cenote. Then we return after a long and wonderful day.
